It's Dead

Regrettable, but inevitable.  The AFL's replay infrastructure has been completely changed as of late 2017.

The downloader is broken, and there is no prospect of it ever working again.

  1. SO there may be a workaround. The links at some bigfooty team sites still work (https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/collingwood-match-replay-archive.1126076/) for example.

2010-2012 are straightforward, but I haven't figured the naming convention from 2013 on yet, and only 4 teams have complete links.

    Any ideas?

  2. The .MP4 files still exist on the servers, if you know where they are. If all you want is Essendon games you can find every link up to the end of 2017 at http://efc.16mb.com/ (at least for now). It is an open question whether there will be any more MP4s in 2018, though I wouldn't hold my breath.

If you want non-Essendon games then there is a problem, because Telstra's websites have been totally changed and no longer reference MP4s, and there is no consistent naming scheme so you can't guess where they are. You might hope that somebody else has indexed all the other teams' video files, and if you discover any such index I would like to hear of it.

The current scheme is that all games are now streamed via a locked-down player that requires an AFL Live Pass. The player does not support downloading, AFAIK, even if you have such a pass.

  3. Thank you for the link! I haven't found an index, but with your EFC link I'm up to 5 full lists and an unsorted thread for Carlton that seems to have most matches.

I've begun downloading everything I want to keep, as I can't see even the limited access available now to stay around, and it seems that AFL is niche enough to not make torrents very viable.
